Welcome to the website for the Hanover Area Human Resource Association (HAHRA), an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management. HAHRA is a professional organization devoted to the improvement of the human resources profession throughout the Hanover area. We provide a source of expression for individuals seeking the opportunity to improve themselves through their work, their professional associations and discovery of new methods and ideas gained through the exchange of information and experiences.

We invite you to browse our website. We hope that you will find the information both enjoyable and helpful. Please visit us regularly to stay abreast of what is happening in our chapter and within the HR profession.

NEW On-line Tool for Employers to Support Nursing Mothers- Many employers are required to provide reasonable break time for an employee to express breast milk for her nursing child for one year after the child's birth. In an effort to help employers comply with the 2010's health care reform initiative, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is developing an online searchable database to showcase creative solutions for supporting employees who are nursing their babies, with special emphasis on employers of hourly workers and challenging work environments. The resource will be available in Fall 2012.

To help populate the web-based resource, they will be gathering success stories from businesses of all industry types over the next few weeks. If your workplace is willing to share your solutions for both the time and space requirements of the Federal nursing breaks law, please visit the online submission site at www.everymother.org/workplace. All information will be kept confidential and no identifying information will be made public without permission from the employer.
